Everett Ashurst

February 17, 1938 — September 5, 2012

Mr. Everett Louis "Eddie" Ashurst, 74, of Knapp Avenue, Morehead, formerly of Georgetown, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, September 5, 2012 in the University of Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born on February 17, 1938 in Irvine, Kentucky, a son of the late James and Mildred Ratliff Ashurst.

Mr. Ashurst was retired from G.T.E. where he served as district manager of the Morehead office and various other locations. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Reserves. Mr. Ashurst was a former member of the Jaycees and Junior Achievement. He enjoyed listening to country music, watching old movies, traveling, collecting antiques and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Barbara Cox.

Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Carol Sue Blair Ashurst, two daughters, Whitney (Rick) Laning of Binningup, Western Australia and Scarlet Flynn of Lexington, one sister, Jimmie Sue Griffin of Lexington, one grandchild, Chase Marie Flynn of Lexington, his mother-in-law, Thelma Blair of Morehead and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. Sunday, September 9, 2012 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Pastor Allan Hutchinson officiating.

Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.

Visitation is after 1:00 P.M. Sunday.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Griffin, Kenny Griffin, Brad Griffin, Donald Pettit, David Vicker, Jerry Collins Brad Flynn.

Contributions are suggested to the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 Building Fund.
