Ernest Fugate, Jr

Mr. Ernest Recel Fugate, Jr., 59, of Versailles Kentucky formerly of Morehead, passed away Saturday, November 7, 2009 at his home.

He was born on April 6, 1950 in Clearfield, Kentucky, a son of the late Ernest Recel Fugate and Edna Baldridge Fugate.

Mr. Fugate was retired Sergeant First Class, United States Army. He was a member of the Woodford Christian Church and the American Legion. Mr. Fugate enjoyed reading, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Hassie Gay Fugate, whom he married on May 1, 1971, one son, James Michael Fugate and his wife, Stacy of Versailles, two brothers, Michael S. Fugate and his wife, Roswitha of Radcliff and John E. Fugate and his wife, Kay of Greenwood, Indiana, one sister, Diane Ball of Morehead, two grandchildren, Sydney Nicole Fugate and Taylor Paige Fugate and several beloved nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM. Tuesday, November 10, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Randy Nation, Minister officiating. Burial will follow in the Clearfield Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 4:00 P.M. Monday.

Pallbearers will be Terry Walker, Brian Stephens, Darby Riggsby, Bryan Riggsby, Wesley Clark and Brian Dougherty and honorary pallbearers will be Benjamin Bryant, Gary Taylor, Darrell Cox, Richard C. Goodman and William J. Goodman.
