Douglas "Doug" Wallace

June 9, 1951 — June 1, 2021

Mt. Sterling

Douglas Alan “Doug” Wallace, 69, of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, went home to Jesus on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.

He was born on June 9, 1951 at Wyandotte General Hospital in Wyandotte, Michigan, a son of the late Austin and Ruby Glenn Wallace.

Doug loved his Summit Polymers family, where he worked for 27 years.  He also worked part time at Jerry’s Body Shop in Morehead for 15 years, as well as 10 years at Great Scott’s Grocery Store in Michigan.

He was known for his kind and loving nature.  Doug had many hobbies which included building houses and garages, working on old cars and collecting antiques, old clocks, lamps, old toys and trains.  He was a jack-of-all trades so to speak, if it was broken, he fixed it.

Doug accepted our Lord and Savior in September 2017 and was a member of the Eastland First Church of God in Mt. Sterling.  He loved hearing Brother James Hendrix and Brother Ted Doyle.  Doug was at peace serving Jesus and wanted his friends and family in church.

Doug and Cindy met through a beloved cousin, Roger Wallace and a cat named Moses in 1984.  They were married on September 7, 1985 and spent 35 wonderful years together.  Doug was Cindy’s hero, always being there as a friend and protector.  He was a dependable, kind and loving father to their daughters and grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved cousin, Roger Wallace.

Survivors include his wife, Cindy Davis Wallace, three daughters, Meredith (Mike) Lefteroff of Lincoln Park, Michigan, Karla (Jack) Hughes of Morehead, Kentucky and Isabella Kelly of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky, five grandchildren, Avery Kelley (Jon), Trinity Hughes, Jackson Hughes, MaKayla Hughes and Gavin Lefteroff, one sister, Juanita “Nina” (Charles “Nick”) Hall of Michigan, two nieces, Heather (Jamie) Isaac and Ginny (Rod) Cameron, two nephews, Brandon (Royalle) Sleep and Jarred (Nicole) Hall, his best friend, Wayne Lambert and several other relatives and special friends.

Doug deeply loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 4, 2021 at the Eastland First Church of God (1706 Old Owingsville Road, Mt. Sterling, Kentucky 40353) with Pastor James Hendrix officiating.

Burial will follow in the New Alfrey Cemetery at Farmers, Kentucky.

Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the Eastland First Church of God.
