Dora Adams Slone, 96, passed away Thursday, January 3, 2008 in the Cave Run Manor Assisted Living Facility in Farmers after an illness of several weeks.
She was born on December 9, 1911 in a houseboat on the Ohio River near Bracken County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late James and Mamie Hardin Adams.
Mrs. Slone was a homemaker. She was a member of the Slab Camp Christian Church and she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles, sewing, quilting and flower and vegetable gardening.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Slone who passed away on September 27, 1986, two sons, James Slone and Joe Slone, Jr., one brother, Tom Adams and three sisters, Leona Tucker, Ethel Brown and Icy Ratliff.
Survivors include one son, William Slone of Ann Arbor, Michigan, two daughters, Wilma Jean Bickett and Joan Barnes both of Ball Ground, Georgia, one sister, Dolly Louise Hostetler of Dayton, Ohio, thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 5, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Ely Barnes, Cleo Sloan, Wayne Black, Cesar Carreon, Ivis Black, Ray Wilson and Junior Wilson.
