Donald Royse

Mr. Donald B. Royse, 74, of Seas Branch Road, Morehead, passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 in the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington.

He was born on September 4, 1940 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late Dorsey and Drotha Trent Royse.

Mr. Royse taught at Morehead State University in Industrial Education and was retired from Boyd County Vocational School where he taught welding. He was a decorated Vietnam Army Veteran, a member of the American Legion and VFW and a Kentucky Colonel.

Donald enjoyed farming, logging, fishing, U.K. sports, keeping up with current events and traveling with his grandson, Errick Lowe.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Emma Lou Jackson Royse, who passed away on July 27, 2014.

Survivors include three daughters, Lisa Royse Fryman, Julie Royse (Floyd) Lowe and Kimberley Royse (Phillip) Perkins all of Morehead, one brother, Junior Ray "Bug" Royse of Morehead, one sister, Patty Kidd of Morehead, special brother-in-law, Rudy (Kitty) Jackson of Peoria, Illinois, and four grandchildren, Tara Royse, Evan Lowe, Errick Lowe and Makaylyn Perkins all of Morehead. He is also survived by nieces and nephews: Donald Kidd, Nan Ramsey, Jackie Royse, Tim Kidd, Rhonda Royse, Chris Kidd, Kayla Royse all of Morehead and Mark Jackson and Scott Jackson of Peoria, Illinois.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, January 1, 2015 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Herbert D. Lewis officiating.

Burial will follow in the Trent Cemetery on Rainbow Road.

Full military honors will be conducted at the graveside by Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.

Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Errick Lowe, Jackie Royse, Timmy Kidd, Chris Kidd, Rhonda Royse and Kayla Royse.

Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Jackson and Scott Jackson.
