Mr. Donald Ray Cox, 75, of Sideway, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, October 31, 2017, peacefully at his home.
He was born on November 25, 1941 in Gimlet, Kentucky, a son of the late Lowell Cox and Corene Harper Cox.
After retiring on February 20, 1984 from Graphic Packaging in Cincinnati, Ohio, Don moved back to his home state of Kentucky and became a hard working farmer, who really enjoyed taking care of his farm and cattle. He was an excellent carpenter and neighbor, who was always there to lend a hand no matter if it was cutting a tree out of the road, pulling someone back in the road, plowing a garden or what ever! Don’s hobbies were collecting caps and working with leather. He also enjoyed watching football games.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lowell (“Bill”) Cox and Roy E. Cox, one sister-in-law, Ruth Cox, one brother-in-law, John Ausmus, two nephews, Kendall Cox and Larry Cox, Jr. and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lizzie and Lowell Lambert.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years and 11 months, Charlotte Lambert Cox, whom he married on November 23, 1963, his faithful companion, Lucky, one sister, Garnetta (George) Jones of Greensburg, Kentucky, two brothers, Quentin Cox of Manitou Beach, Michigan and Larry Cox of Monroe, Michigan, two sisters-in-law, Gretta Cox of Crystal Springs, Mississippi and Jean Ausmus of Greenbriar, Kentucky, four nieces, Phyllis Adkins of Youngsville, North Carolina, Cheryl Dunaway of Crystal Springs, Mississippi, Sara Moss of Tracy, California and Liz Cox of Manitou Beach, Michigan and five nephews, Phillip Cox of Elliottville, Kentucky, Chris Jones of Greensburg, Kentucky, Billy W. Jones of Somersville, Florida, Travis Cox of Boerne, Texas and Joe Cox of Crawfordville, Florida.
Don will be missed by his family, long-time friends and farming buddies, whose names are too numerous to list.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Friday, November 3, 2017 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Brother Victor Mabry officiating.
Burial will follow in the McDaniel Cemetery at Sideway, Kentucky.
Visitation is after 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
