David Pettit, Jr., 70, of McBrayer Road, Clearfield passed away Tuesday, September 2, 2008 at his home after an illness of several weeks.

He was born on October 11, 1937 in Rowan County, Kentucky, a son of the late David Hopkins Pettit and Bearl Haney Pettit.

Mr. Pettit was known as the hardest working man in the county. He was a logger, sold firewood, worked for Gateway Community Services since 1986 and owned and operated Morehead Movers since 1965. David was a member of the Morehead First Apostolic Church since 1998.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Marvin Pettit and three sisters, Patricia Mynhier, Kathleen Staton and Brenda Pettit.

Survivors include his wife, Fayola Blair Pettit, whom he married on June 3, 1961, of Clearfield, one son, Donald Earl Pettit and his wife, Judy of Morehead, one daughter, Donna Michelle Vickers and her husband, David of Newark, Delaware, four brothers, Wayne Pettit, Paul Pettit, Gene Pettit and Gary Pettit all of Morehead, one sister, Judith Terry of Morehead, three grandchildren, Randy Vickers, Jeffrey Vickers and Saprina Pettit and his mother-in-law, Thelma Blair of Morehead.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, September 6, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Kenneth Binion officiating. Burial will follow in New Alfrey Cemetery at Farmers. Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Friday.

Pallbearers will be Tony Pettit, Chris Terry, Nathan Terry, Gary Pettit, Jr., David Vickers and Randy Vickers.
