Mr. David Fraley, 91 of Poplar Hollow Road, Morehead, passed away Saturday, August 24, 2019 at St. Claire HealthCare in Morehead after an illness of several weeks.
He was born May 4, 1928 in Rowan County, Kentucky to the late Rev. Jake and Myrtle Plank Fraley.
Mr. Fraley was a retired farmer having tended the O. W. McIntire farm in Fleming County. He enjoyed caring for his yard, raising a garden, traveling, eating out and visiting with family and friends.
Mr. Fraley was a United States Army veteran having served during the Korean Conflict.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Harold Wayne Fraley on February 24, 2019, four brothers, Joe Fraley, Zenith Fraley, Roy Fraley and John Fraley. Three sisters, Cressie Lawson, Rena Hamilton and Mayme Spence.
Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Mervin Hatfield Fraley, one son, Gary Fraley and his wife Debbie of Flemingsburg, Kentucky. His daughter-in-law, Vicki Truesdell Fraley of Tollesboro, Kentucky,.Seven grandchildren, Cynthia McCann, Jerry Fraley, Holly (Scott) McCord, Bridget (Greg) Roland, Julie Helphenstine, Travis (Cathy) Follmer and Lynna (Robby) Newsom. Eighteen great-grand children and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, August 27, 2019 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Harley Sexton, Jr. and Rev. Butch Kelsey officiating.
Burial with full military honors by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126 will be in the David Fraley Cemetery on Poplar Hollow Road.
Visitation at the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead is after 6:00 P.M Monday.
Serving as Pall bearers will be Rex Hamilton, Darrell Hamilton, Gary Lindberg, Kent Logan, Vernon Estep, Alex Hamilton, Justin McCord and Ethan McCord. Honorary bearers will be Jimmy Helterbrand and Shirley Brown.
