Darrel Ray Barber, 74, of Morehead, passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021 at St. Claire HealthCare.
He was born on December 18, 1946 in Lexington, Kentucky, a son of the late Ersel and Florence Dawson Barber.
Darrel had owned and operated Convenient Food Mart #51 and Convenient Food Mart #28, since 1972 and he also owned and operated the Quick Stop Food Mart on 519.
He was a graduate of Breckinridge Training School and he enjoyed camping, deer hunting, fishing and trips to the Smokies.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his companion, Sharon Justice, two brothers, Jack Barber and Billy Joe Barber and his twin sister, Carol Kay Barber.
Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Marion Jenkins Barber of Morehead and Edna S. Barber of Nicholasville, two nephews, Larry Barber and his wife, Michelle of Morehead and Scott Barber of Florida, one niece, Jackie Moore and her husband, Raymond of Morehead, two great-nephews, Trey Barber and Ryan Moore and his wife, Amber, a great-great-niece, Raegan Moore and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 17, 2021 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Eddie Dennison officiating.
Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Trey Barber, Ryan Moore, Carl Earley, Gary Lambert, Lonzie Wright and Bill Courtney.
