Dan Parker “Stoney” Stewart, 75, of Morehead passed away Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at his home.
He was born on March 7, 1946 in Lackey, Kentucky, a son of the late Carl Edgar Stewart and Christine Wicker Stewart.
Dan was retired from the United States Marine Corps, having served during Vietnam and was the owner of Morehead Church Furniture
He had been a Deputy Sheriff, City of Morehead Building Inspector and Assistant Mayor under Johnny Holbrook. Dan was a graduate of Morehead State University, where he played football and ran track.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, James Claude Stewart and Carl Ellis Stewart and one sister, Katherine Stout.
Survivors include his wife, Lana Peters Stewart, children, Scott Frederick Bradley (Michelle) of Jeffersonville, Indiana, Christa Arrington (Brad) of Richmond, Kentucky and Shane Ortez (Fran) of Columbus, Ohio, siblings, Terry Stewart (Sharon) of Franklin, Ohio, Ronald Stewart (Millie) of Carlisle, Ohio, Larry Stewart (Anna Ruth) of Lexington, Kentucky and Mark Stewart of Franklin, Ohio, three grandchildren, Sarah Arrington, Smith Bradley and Kate Bradley and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Celebration of life service will be conducted at 12:00 Noon Wednesday, April 7, 2021 at the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126 with Chaplain Rufus Williams and other Members of the American Legion officiating.
Burial will be at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 7, 2021 in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast.
Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post No. 126.
