Mr. Damon Johnson, 80, of Elliottville passed away Monday, May 4, 2009 at his home.
He was born on January 26, 1929 in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late Emory and Bertha Furman Johnson.
Mr. Johnson was a retired farmer and construction worker. He was a United States Army Veteran having served during the Korean Conflict. Mr. Johnson was a member of the Laborers Local 1445 in Ashland and he enjoyed farming and yard work.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, Clayton Johnson, Delmar Johnson, Tony Johnson and an infant brother and four sisters, Beulah Johnson, Jettie Johnson, Elsie Moore and an infant sister.
Survivors include his wife, Wilma Johnson, whom he married on May 16, 1965, of Elliottville, one son, Steven Johnson and his wife, Kelli of Winchester, one daughter, Jennifer Johnson of Lexington, one sister-in-law, Madalene Johnson of Carrollton, Ohio, three grandchildren, Seth Johnson, Samuel Johnson and Sara Johnson and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, May 7, 2009 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. David Starcher officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson Cemetery in Elliott County. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Elbert Pennington, Gary Johnson, Elwood Johnson, Teddy Johnson, Tex Johnson, Emory Johnson and Michael Jurkiewicz.
