Mrs. Clela Prater Caldwell, 89, of Morehead, passed away peacefully Sunday morning, October 5, 2014 at the Owingsville Manor in Owingsville after an extended illness.
She was born in Rowan County, Kentucky on July 24, 1925, a daughter of the late Clayton and Allie Cox Prater.
Mrs. Caldwell had worked in the Rowan County Judge Executive's office, where she had served as Judge Executive Pro-tem. She was a member of the Bluebank First Church of God and was active in the Republican Party. Clela was a true homemaker who enjoyed spending time with her family, cooking, canning, antiques, yard sales and animals.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, former Rowan County Judge-Executive, Ott Caldwell, who passed away on July 8, 2000.
Survivors include three sons, Doug Caldwell and his wife, Diana Adkins Caldwell of Ormond Beach, Florida, Jeff Caldwell of Morehead and Mark Caldwell and his wife, Jenny Fannin Caldwell of Morehead, one sister, Sue Prater Stevens of Mays Lick, two grandchildren, Casie Caldwell and Clay Caldwell, two great-grandchildren, Ott Caldwell and Ella Caldwell, two nieces, LaShonda Johnson and Carmen Elam and one great-niece, Leeanna Holler.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, October 8, 2014 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Brother Richard Engle officiating.
Burial will follow in the Ellington Cemetery.
Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Joe Litton, Dan Kelly, Steve Swim, Alton Black, Chris Caldwell, Tyler Tussey, Brandon Black and Cole Caldwell.
