Mr. Charles Curtis Cornett, Age 80 of Morehead, passed away Saturday Morning, January 26, 2013 in the St. Claire Regional Medical Center after an extended illness.

He was born July 23, 1932 in Elliottville, Kentucky to the late Frank and Eunice Trent Cornett.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Ricky Lee Cornett, three brothers, Edward Cornett, Attie Cornett and Trent Cornett. One sister, Violet Walker.

Charles was a retired boilermaker and welder with 32 years of service to the Boilermaker's Local No. 105 in Piketon, Ohio. He was of the Presbyterian faith and enjoyed reading, especially Louis L'Amour novels.

He enjoyed time with his friends over coffee discussing politics and world problems.

One of his greatest joys in life was being a grandfather. He enjoyed every minute he spent with his grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ruby Roberts Cornett whom he married December 24, 1953. One son, Charles Cornett, Jr., and his wife Carol of Louisville, Kentucky. Two daughters, Anita Wells and her husband William "B" of Hillsboro, Kentucky, Tina Moore and her husband Dwayne of Prestonsburg, Kentucky.

Two brothers, Virgil Cornett and his wife Bonnie and Lloyd Cornett all of Morehead. Three sisters, Oneida Caudill of Morehead, Arlene Swanson of Cincinnati, Ohio and Carolyn Carpenter and her husband Tom of West Liberty, Kentucky.

Seven Grandchildren, William Travis Wells, Carlie Nicole Cornett, Dustin Ray Wells, Richard Curtis Cornett, Christopher Flynn Cornett, Elliot Mycheal Cornett and Ethan Edward Cornett.

Two Great-Grandchildren, Anna Leigh Cornett and Mason Ray Wells.

Also, twenty-five nieces and nephews who held a special place in his heart.

The family is grateful for the care he received at St. Claire Regional Medical Center. They want to extend their appreciation to all the Doctors, Nurses and Aides, especially those on the 3rd and 5th floors.

Funeral services will be conducted 1:00 P.M. Tuesday in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Dr. Michael Anderson officiating.

Burial with full military honors by the Morehead American Legion Post No. 126 will be in the New Alfrey Cemetery.

Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 5:00 P.M. Monday.

Serving as Pall Bearers will be William Travis Wells, Dustin Ray Wells, Richard Curtis Cornett, Christopher Flynn Cornett, Elliot Mycheal Cornett, Ethan Edward Cornett, William "B" Wells and Dwayne Moore.
