Carolyn Johnson

Mrs. Carolyn Pelfrey Johnson, 81, of Morehead, passed away Monday morning, April 9, 2018 in the Edgewood Estates Nursing Home in Frenchburg.

She was born in Bath County, Kentucky on May 21, 1936, a daughter of the late Lloyd and Dorothy Stone Pelfrey.

Mrs. Johnson was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God, where she had served as organist, pianist and had been a choir member.  Carolyn was a graduate of Morehead High School and a member of the Homemakers.  She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, gardening and working in her flowers.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Lowell Johnson, who passed away on March 23, 2003 and two sons, Stephen Lane Johnson and David Neal Johnson.

Survivors include one daughter, Jackie (James) Ross of Wellington, one son, Mike (Paula) Johnson of Calhoun, Georgia, one brother, Andrew (Kathy) Pelfrey of Clearfield, one sister, Faye (Nelson) Purvis of Flemingsburg, six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 14, 2018 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Cecil Ison officiating.

Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery.

Visitation is after 12:00 Noon Saturday at the funeral home.

Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
