Carl Christian, 82, of Richmond, Kentucky formerly of Morehead passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 in the Compassionate Care Center in Richmond after a brief illness.
He was born on June 7, 1925 in Haldeman, Kentucky, a son of the late Herbert and Mamie Sturgill Christian.
Mr. Christian was a retired typesetter for Yeager Typesetting in Columbus, Ohio and a United States Navy Veteran having served during World War II. He enjoyed the outdoors and camping.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Claude Christian and one sister, Marie Gulley.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Butler Christian of Richmond, one son, David Christian and his wife, Sue of Richmond, three brothers, Verner Christian of Miamisburg, Ohio, Ralph Christian of Jacksboro, Tennessee and Jimmie Christian of Franklin, Ohio, one sister, Bernice Gulley of Morehead, sister-in-law, Naomi Christian of Danville and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Monday, May 5, 2008 in the chapel of the Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home with Rev. Lloyd Dean and Chaplain James Demaray officiating. Burial will follow in the Brown Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted at the graveside by Morehead American Legion Post No. 126. Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Sunday.
Pallbearers will be David Christian, Michael Gulley, Rick Waltz, Mark Gulley, Scott Lynch, Adam King, James Arnett and Rick Logan and honorary pallbearers will be Clyde Cooley, Wilbert Crager and Earl Alderman.
