Bill B. Pierce,76 of Pine Hill Drive Morehead, passed away Friday evening, September 28, 2012 at his home after an extended illness.
He was born in Morehead, Kentucky on August 27, 1936 to Billie Colliver Pierce and the late Dwight Pierce.
Bill was a professor emeritus at Morehead State University and was a graduate of Morehead State University, The University of Kentucky and Wayne State University.
An avid reader, he also enjoyed fishing, woodworking, golf and spending time with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. He was also a charter member of the Morehead Jaycees and a member of the Morehead United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife Carole Scott Pierce, Mother, Billie Colliver Pierce of Morehead. One son, Michael Pierce and his wife Heather of Morehead. Two daughters, Shari Pierce of Lexington and Mari Pierce O'Toole and her husband Tim of Cincinnati, Ohio. One brother Dan Pierce and his wife Evelyn of Auburndale, Florida, One sister Jane Pierce Smith and her husband Capp of Wilmington Delaware. A Brother-in-Law, Elwood Scott and his wife Jeanne of Ashland, Kentucky.
Six Grandchildren, Haley Wojahn; Kelsey and Delaney O'Toole; Caden, Jackson and Anderson Pierce.
Also, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 1, 2012 at the Morehead United Methodist Church with Pastor Aaron Mansfield officiating.
Burial will follow in the Lee Cemetery.
Visitation at Lane-Stucky-Gray Funeral Home is after 4:00 P.M. Sunday.
Pall Bearers will be David Barber, Mike Harford, Mike Hearn, Lloyd Jaisingh, David Saxon, Phil Martin, John Philley and Ryan Smith.
Serving as Honorary Bearers will be Dr. Ed Scott, Dr. Tom Fossett, Dr. David Blake, Paul Ousley, David Braughler, Dr. Hunter Black, Tom Cooper, Ival Bryant, Elwood Scott, Cole Adkins, John Graham, Jo Smith, Virginia Black, Julia Martin, Buford Crager, Wade Cain, Ted Pass and the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Contributions are suggested to the Morehead United Methodist Church or the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
