Benita Blanton

June 23, 1965 — December 21, 2016

Benita Lynn Little Blanton, 51, of Morehead, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

She was born on June 23, 1965 in Muncie, Indiana, a daughter of Rita Juanita Littleton Little and the late James L. Little.

Benita was a CVE Inspector for the Kentucky State Police since 2012.  She had previously worked at Sealmaster for 25 years.

She was a 1983 graduate of Rowan County Senior High School and received her Associates Degree from Morehead State University.

Benita attended Johnson First Church of God and was a life member of the National Rifle Association.  She enjoyed hunting, Shop With A Trooper, riding motorcycles, traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, whom she loved dearly.

She was preceded in death by her father, James L. Little, who passed away on April 13, 2004.

Survivors include her husband, Bill Blanton, her mother, Rita Juanita Littleton Little of Morehead, one son, Brad (Caitlin) Johnson of Charlestown, Indiana, one daughter, Rachael Lynn (Justin) Childers of Beattyville, Kentucky one-step daughter, Lynsey Rae (Bobby) Cantrell of Louisa, one brother, James Earl (Kim) Little of Morehead, three sisters, Darlena Little of Lexington, Vonda (Mike) Boyd and Melissa (Larry) Moore both of Morehead, seven grandchildren, Aidan Trent, Reagan Johnson, Roxanne Childers, Kayden Childers, Hadley Childers, Kayson Cantrell and Roslyn Cantrell and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, December 24, 2016 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Rev. Mark Caldwell officiating.

Burial will follow in the Adams-Plank Cemetery at Cranston.

Final rites will be presented by the Kentucky State Police Honor Guard at the gravesite.

Visitation is after 6:00 P.M. Friday at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be KSP and CVE officers.
