Andrew Harlin Pelfrey, 82, of Clearfield, Kentucky, made his peaceful transition to his heavenly home Wednesday, January 15, 2025 at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Lexington, Kentucky.
He was born on July 3, 1942 in Olive Hill, Kentucky, a son of the late Lloyd and Dorothy Stone Pelfrey.
Andy was a retired certified operating room tech having worked at St. Claire Medical Center for 30 years. He was also a United States Air Force Veteran.
He was a member of the Clearfield Tabernacle First Church of God; a 1960 graduate of Morehead High School and had attended Morehead State University. Andy was a Kentucky Colonel and a member of the Association of Surgical Technologists.
Andy enjoyed hunting, fishing and later in life discovering You Tube.
Following retirement, he was involved with the Morehead American Legion and served as a volunteer at St. Claire and Michael R. Gray Funeral Home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Janet Pelfrey, who passed away in 1974, granddaughter, Samantha Pelfrey, who passed away in 2023 and one sister, Carolyn Johnson.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Dehart Pelfrey, whom he married on July 5, 1978, children, Bryan Pelfrey (Nina) of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, Brandon Pelfrey (Elesha) of Mt. Sterling, Kentucky and Tiffany Pelfrey of Clearfield, grandchildren, Tabitha Pelfrey of Houston, Texas, Amberlyn Pelfrey, Brayden Pelfrey and Cayson Pelfrey all of Mt. Sterling and Nichole Bingaman of Lebanon, Pennsylvania, five great-grandchildren, Cole, Erik, Tyler, Alyssa and Angel, one sister, Faye Purvis of Flemingsburg, Kentucky and several other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. Sunday, January 19, 2025 in the chapel of the Michael R. Gray Funeral Home in Morehead with Pastor Joe Cline and Pastor Roy Lands officiating.
Full military rites will be conducted at the funeral home by the Corbie Ellington American Legion Post 126.
Burial will follow in the Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation is after 5:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jim Butler, Charlie Henderson, Danny Reynolds, Charlie Stamm, Zach Lawson, Rick Leadingham, along with his children and grandchildren.
Honorary pallbearers will be Barry Purvis, Phillip Purvis, David Sexton and former St. Claire Surgery Department Coworkers.
The family would like to extend special appreciation to the Veteran Affairs Medical Team, especially Jessie and Shay, who provided in home care.
